Habits to Build a Better Version of Myself

Skittles without the shine. Thats what the rocks looked like on the Northeastern shores of Long Island. A rainbow didn't need to compliment the beautiful Atlantic views either. Fisherman in waist high rubber pants stood still in the swirling white water casting mackerel into the tide. I didn't see anyone with a fish and they all looked tired. The ocean sang and I listened for several hours. It was wonderful.

Last night I walked along the beaches at Montauk Point, LI. It was the first time I let my feet sink into sand all year. This peaceful experience, seeing and hearing the ocean waves crash into shore, gives my heart a delightful feeling. Things are moving. Life is happening. And we are a part of that. We can learn from the waves that sculpt this shore. And may we always create a better version of ourselves.

The ocean is always moving. And it's beautiful to watch these waves break and pound the shoreline. Here is something to remember, that there is always motion and erosion happening and the result is a newer version of the shore. Every time we see it , the shoreline is a little bit different. I wonder what my life would be like if I had the persistence of these waves. Perhaps little by little, I can sculpt a newer and better version of myself.

Here are a few habits I intend to adopt to help me build a better version of myself.

1 - Writing

I would like to become a better writer. And so I will write. Here. On my blog. If only to spill a little bit of creativity that oozes from my brain occasionally.

2 -  a healthy start

Breakfast. It will become a routine if it kills me. I started this morning by eating a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries and honey.

3 - self expression

Radically new ideas come from a completely originaly perspective. I want to hone in on bringing more of my own flavor to my daily routine.

4 - share stuff I have already accomplished.

Seeing my progress and being reminded of it gives me peace. That peace is the part of myself I want to share with my friends and family.

5 - invest more time ‘being’.

5 minutes a day I intend to create a quiet moment to center in and focus on my own energy and existence.

With a little more self discipline I can create these better habits. Lets continue to create a better version of our self each and every day.
